Shannon Larkin’s Whirlwind: From Godsmack Exit to Snot’s Rockville Savior

The rock world is buzzing as former Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin makes a surprising return to the stage, just months after his departure from the iconic band. Larkin is set to ignite the Welcome to Rockville festival this weekend, filling in behind the kit for the reunited Snot. This unexpected collaboration marks a significant moment for both Larkin and Snot, promising a high-energy performance that fans won't want to miss.

Why Larkin Joined Snot

Snot's reunion has been gaining momentum, with the addition of Andy Knapp as their new singer. However, scheduling conflicts threatened their Welcome to Rockville appearance, as drummer Jamie Miller is currently touring Europe with Bad Religion. Enter Shannon Larkin, a figure deeply intertwined with Snot's history.

"Due to Jamie Miller currently on tour in Spain with Bad Religion, legendary drummer Shannon Larkin will be joining SNOT on the drum throne this Sunday at @WelcomeToRockville in Daytona Beach," the band announced on Instagram. The post also highlighted Larkin's crucial role in Snot's formation and his presence at their final shows before the tragic passing of Lynn Strait in 1998.

Larkin's Godsmack Exit: A Desire for a Quieter Life

Earlier this year, Godsmack surprised fans when they returned to the stage without Larkin and guitarist Tony Rombola. In April, Larkin confirmed that he and Rombola had left the group, citing a longing for a "more simple and quiet life away from touring." This makes his quick return to the stage with Snot all the more intriguing.

Snot's Rockville Set: Who Else to Expect

Snot is scheduled to perform this Sunday at the Daytona International Speedway, joining a star-studded lineup headlined by Korn. The day will also feature performances from Bad Omens, Marilyn Manson, Mudvayne, Chevelle, Motionless in White, and many more. Doc Coyle (ex-Bad Wolves) will be filling in as the band's touring guitarist.

A Band Forged in Tragedy and Reunion

Snot's history is marked by both promise and tragedy. The band disbanded in 1998 after the death of vocalist Lynn Strait, leaving behind only one studio album, "Get Some." In a touching tribute, they later released "Strait Up," featuring guest vocals from members of prominent bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn. The band has seen internal conflict, including the departure of members over these years.

Now, with the addition of Shannon Larkin and a renewed energy, Snot is ready to deliver a powerful performance at Welcome to Rockville. Will this collaboration be a one-off event, or could it lead to something more permanent? Only time will tell.
