Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson Unite for ‘Trailblazer’ at ACM Awards: A New Anthem for Women in Country Music

The 60th annual Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards) witnessed a historic moment as country music icons Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson joined forces to debut their new single, "Trailblazer." The collaboration, a tribute to the trailblazing women who paved the way for future generations in country music, has sparked excitement among fans and critics alike.

Introduced by Rita Wilson, the trio graced the stage in coordinated brown outfits, adorned with turquoise accents, instantly capturing the audience's attention. Penned by Lambert, Wilson, and Brandy Clark, "Trailblazer" is an ode to the enduring legacy of female artists in country music.

"We talk how we talk, and we are who we are – that's inspiring," Wilson shared backstage, emphasizing the song's message of authenticity and empowerment. McEntire echoed this sentiment, acknowledging the influence of legends like Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton on her own career and the careers of countless others.

The lyrics of "Trailblazer" pay homage to each performer's journey, cleverly incorporating references to Lambert's 2005 hit "Kerosene," and McEntire and Wilson's home states of Oklahoma and Louisiana. Lambert revealed that the song was designed to be a subtle tribute, rewarding listeners with deeper meaning upon repeated listens. Wilson added that they hope the song will resonate across generations, connecting grandmothers, daughters, and granddaughters through shared experiences and the rich history of country music.

Beyond the premiere of "Trailblazer", this year's ACM Awards were particularly notable for Lainey Wilson, who walked away with the coveted Entertainer of the Year, along with Female Artist of the Year, and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. Wilson's album Whirlwind was also honored as Album of the Year. Meanwhile, Reba McEntire marked her 18th time hosting the prestigious event.

The ACM Awards were not just about collaboration and celebration; it was also a night of unforgettable performances. Lambert joined forces with Ella Langley to perform her 2024 song “Run” and her well-known track “Kerosene.”
