Morrissey Resumes Tour After Hospitalization: What Happened and What’s Next?

Morrissey, the iconic former frontman of The Smiths, is back on tour after a brief but concerning health scare. Fans were worried when two North American tour dates were postponed due to what was described as a “severe sinusitis attack.” But the good news is, Morrissey is already back!

According to a statement released on his Instagram, Morrissey was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego after contracting the illness. This forced the postponement of shows in San Diego and Rancho Mirage, California. Fortunately, both shows have been rescheduled, with the Rancho Mirage date now set for October 24 and the San Diego show moved to January 6, 2026.

Beyond the Tour: What About the New Music?

It's been five years since Morrissey released his last solo album, I Am Not a Dog on a Chain (2020). Since then, he has teased two follow-up albums. One of these, Bonfire of Teenagers recorded between 2020 and 2021 with producer Andrew Watt, features guest appearances from names like Miley Cyrus, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Flea, and Iggy Pop.

However, Morrissey has claimed this album is being suppressed. Citing a war on “free speech.” He has also completed another album, Without Music the World Dies, even playing some tracks live, but a release date remains unseen.

Morrissey will also be playing a show in Dublin on May 31, and three UK shows, including at Manchester's Co-op Live on June 7, as part of a lengthy European tour.

It's great to hear that Morrissey is recovering and back on the road! Are you planning to catch him on this tour? What are your thoughts on his unreleased albums? Share your comments below!
