Metal Goes Deep: Pig Destroyer and Ghost Drop Adult Toys, Sell Out Fast!
The world of heavy metal is no stranger to pushing boundaries, but two bands have recently taken their merchandising to a whole new level...or perhaps depth. Pig Destroyer and Ghost have both released adult-themed toys this week, and the response has been, shall we say, enthusiastic.
From the brutal grindcore depths, Pig Destroyer has unleashed the "Plug Destroyer" butt plug. Yes, you read that right. Available via Bandcamp, these plugs come in three sizes, each featuring a different Pig Destroyer icon: J.R. Hayes (Large), the Prowler In the Yard (Medium), and the Pig Destroyer Logo (Small). Material options include stainless steel, black silicone, and hot pink silicone. The band cheekily notes, "One size fits all...eventually..."
Meanwhile, on the more theatrical side, Ghost released a limited-edition "Ghildo," a purple silicone dildo modeled after their frontman, Papa V Perpetua. Priced at $130, these adult toys sold out within minutes of their release via Rockabilia. The limited run of 666 pieces, 7 inches in length, and 2 inches of girth (includes an individually hand-numbered card) made it a super exclusive item.
This isn't the first foray into adult merchandise for either band. Ghost has previously offered similar erotically intended items with equally swift sell-outs. And Other bands like Rammstein and Gwar. Rammstein famously offered a special edition box set of their 2009 album Liebe ist für alle da that came with six dildos modeled after the band members’ own dicks. Meanwhile, Gwar teamed up with specialty dildo company Bad Dragon to put out a fuckable Cuttlefish of Cthulhu.
What does this say about the metal fanbase? Perhaps it's a testament to their dedication, their willingness to embrace the unconventional, or simply their disposable income. One thing is clear: when it comes to metal and merchandising, some fans aren't afraid to get a little... intimate.
