Grayson, who joined KMBZ in 2019, shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his career, starting from his early days as a passionate college student calling into talk shows to becoming a prominent voice in the industry. "I fell in love with talk radio the day I first heard it," he wrote, describing an irresistible allure that drew him to the profession.

His journey took him from Tampa to Nashville and eventually to St. Louis, where he hosted the nationally syndicated "Overnight America." Before landing at KMBZ, Grayson built a strong reputation at KTRS and KMOX in St. Louis.

In his farewell message, Grayson opened up about the personal reasons behind his early retirement, citing an upcoming international move and lifestyle changes aimed at ensuring his and his wife's well-being. "My wife and I are making some changes in our lifestyle, our geography and our living standards to protect our safety and sanity that include an international move. That simply makes this job no longer feasible," he explained.

Grayson's approach to talk radio has always been deeply rooted in creating a sense of community. He envisioned his shows as a virtual gathering place, "the kind of thing you'd hear people jawing about at the bar," where listeners could connect, challenge each other, and engage in meaningful conversations.

He expressed immense gratitude to his colleagues, listeners, and especially to his co-host, Jayme Monacelli, for their support and partnership. "Thank you Jayme for bearing with my antics long enough to have turned our show into the true partnership I believe it's been," he wrote.

While Grayson is stepping away from the microphone, he hinted that this might not be a permanent goodbye. "You know I could never keep my mouth shut for that long," he quipped, leaving fans wondering what the future holds.

KMBZ has yet to announce plans for a replacement in the midday slot, but the station and its listeners will undoubtedly feel the absence of Grayson's voice and perspective.
