The Eurovision 2025 Song Contest is heating up, and all eyes are on Norway's representative, Kyle Alessandro. This 19-year-old singer-songwriter is not only the youngest competitor this year but also a rising star hoping to bring victory to Norway with his song, "Lighter." But who exactly is Kyle Alessandro, and what are Norway's chances this year?

Alessandro's journey to Eurovision is a testament to his dedication and passion for music. He first stepped into the spotlight at the tender age of 10, participating in the Norwegian version of "Britain's Got Talent." Although he didn't win, the experience ignited a fire within him.

He entered Melodi Grand Prix, Norway's Eurovision selection show, in 2023 as part of the group Umami Tsunami but unfortunately finished last. However, this setback didn't deter him. Alessandro returned in 2025 as a solo artist and emerged victorious, securing his coveted spot at Eurovision.

"Taking part in Eurovision has 'always' been his 'biggest dream'," Alessandro stated in an interview with Eurovision World. His passion for the competition is undeniable, tracing back to his childhood when he would point excitedly at the TV whenever Eurovision was on.

His song, "Lighter," co-written with Adam Christopher Allskog and Helgesen Villalobos, is described as a pop song with a unique sound, blending baroque and medieval elements with Norwegian folk influences. Alessandro's diverse inspiration, drawn from South America, Japan, and Nordic folk music, is evident in the song's unique sonic palette.

Recent reports from Alessandro's second rehearsal show that his performance is set to be a visual spectacle. The staging includes elements from his Melodi Grand Prix performance, such as stone pillars and steps, but with a grander scale. A much larger LED backdrop displays post-apocalyptic mountain graphics, playing into a common theme this year. What elevates the performance is the lighting, particularly a moving rig that creates a stunning moment during the quiet middle eight, bathing Alessandro in hundreds of spotlights.

There was speculation about changes to Alessandro's costume, specifically his armor, due to similarities with Armenia's Parg. While he confirmed a new version, the differences are subtle. He's accompanied by three dancers, one of whom delivers impressive breakdancing during the performance. Flaming effects enhance the visual impact.

Last year, Norway finished in 25th place with 16 points, marking their 12th last-place finish in the final. Alessandro hopes to improve on that result and bring Norway back to the top.

Will Kyle Alessandro and "Lighter" be enough to ignite the Eurovision stage and bring a strong finish for Norway? The combination of his youth, experience, and visually stunning performance could make him a contender. What are your predictions? Let us know in the comments below!
