John Legend Reflects on Kanye West’s ‘Descent’: From Collaborator to Controversial Figure

While hesitant to psychoanalyze West, Legend suggests that the death of West's mother, Donda West, in 2007 marked a turning point. "I don’t think we’re qualified to psychoanalyze [West], but after his mother passed in 2007 there was definitely a difference," Legend noted, adding, "His descent started then and seems to have accelerated recently."
