
Jack Antonoff Crowned ASCAP’s Songwriter of the Year: A Deep Dive into the 2025 Pop Awards
Jack Antonoff has cemented his place as a songwriting titan, being named ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year at the 2025 Pop Awards. The event, held at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, celebrated the songwriters and publishers behind the year's most-performed pop songs. This prestigious award underscores Antonoff's undeniable impact on the music landscape, highlighting his collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry.
Antonoff's win recognizes his co-writing credits on chart-topping hits like Sabrina Carpenter's "Please Please Please" and a remarkable five songs by Taylor Swift: "Anti-Hero," "Fortnight," "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," "Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)," and "Karma." His prolific year also included producing Swift's critically acclaimed album The Tortured Poets Department, as well as contributing to Kendrick Lamar’s GNX and Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet. This recognition signifies Antonoff's ability to craft songs that resonate with a global audience, solidifying his position as a sought-after collaborator.

But Antonoff wasn't the only winner of the night. Teddy Swims' massive hit "Lose Control," co-written by Joshua “Ammo” Coleman, snagged the Pop Song of the Year award. "Lose Control" has impressively spent 88 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, setting a new record for the longest run song in the top 10 of the chart and demonstrating its enduring appeal.
Sony Music Publishing took home the title of Music Publisher of the Year for the ninth time. Their impressive portfolio of winning tracks included Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” and Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!” Katie Welle, Sony Music Publishing president, head of A&R, expressed pride in the talent they represent, acknowledging the impact of songwriters in shaping music history.
The ASCAP Pop Awards also honored other prominent songwriters including Amy Allen(who co-wrote several Carpenter songs), Beyoncé, Dan Nigro, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Justin Tranter, Justin Timberlake, Noah Kahan, Dua Lipa, Shaboozey and Victoria Monét.
