The tour, commemorating the album's 25th anniversary, kicks off on September 11th in San Diego, CA, and concludes on October 18th in Philadelphia, PA. Select dates will feature support from fellow indie acts Pedro the Lion and Greg Freeman, adding even more reason to grab your tickets when they go on sale.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Originally released in May 2000, The Sophtware Slump captured the anxieties and absurdities of a world increasingly reliant on technology. Frontman Jason Lytle's storytelling, blending '90s indie rock with glammy synth flourishes, created a unique sonic landscape that resonated with listeners. The album envisioned a world populated by alcoholic robots, stressed programmers, and discarded appliances—themes that, surprisingly, feel even more relevant today.

“Grandaddy really figured out their sound and worldview with their fantastic second album,” wrote Indie Basement, highlighting the album’s enduring appeal. The album's concepts continue to spark conversation even decades later.

Remembering the Past, Embracing the Present

This tour marks a significant return for Grandaddy. A planned 2017 tour, coinciding with the release of their album Last Place, was tragically cut short by the passing of bassist Kevin Garcia. While they played a one-off NYC show that year and toured Europe in 2022, this North American run is a true homecoming.

But the tour isn't just about nostalgia. Grandaddy released their latest album, Blu Wav, in February 2024, their first collection of new material since Last Place. This tour is a chance to experience both their classic sound and their newer explorations.
