Chris Adler Opens Up About Lamb of God Exit: Musician’s Dystonia and Lingering Resentments

Former Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler has recently shared candid details about his departure from the band in 2019, shedding light on the personal and professional struggles that led to his exit. In a revealing interview, Adler discussed his battle with musician's dystonia, a neurological disorder that severely impacted his drumming ability, as well as other personal challenges he was facing at the time.

Adler, who also gained recognition for his work with Megadeth and Protest the Hero, spoke openly about the debilitating effects of musician's dystonia. "Mine was with my right foot," Adler explained. "Dystonia is basically a neurological condition where the nerve that controls the movement of any particular body part basically deteriorates to the point where that motion becomes impossible."

He recounted how the condition affected his performances with Lamb of God. "So I would be playing a song, and my foot, when I intended it to depress the pedal, would shoot off to the side or shoot back. And that was at the point where I was coming off stage just so depressed with my performance. I think the band was very frustrated with my performance."

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Adler was also dealing with personal hardships. "My mom passed away. I was in the middle of a terrible divorce. I'd had the motorcycle accident," he revealed. These factors, combined with his health issues, created a perfect storm that ultimately led to his departure from Lamb of God.

According to Adler, he was ultimately fired from the band via email. "It was one of those e-mails, 'service is no longer required' kind of thing, and that was devastating, 'cause it felt like it was my baby, it was my project and I put my life into it," Adler said.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his exit, Adler emphasized that he holds no ill will towards his former bandmates. "But I've worked through those resentments, and I've got nothing but love for them continuing on and for each one of them. It was a difficult time, I think, for everybody, and, yeah, it hurt me a lot," he said.

Since his departure from **Lamb of God**, Adler has focused on his new project, **Firstborne**, and has found ways to manage his musician's dystonia. He also expressed pride in his accomplishments with Lamb of God. "So I could look back on that and really be very, very proud of the time, effort and career that I had with them. And I wouldn't do it any other way," he said.

While there has been no communication between Adler and the members of Lamb of God since his departure, he remains optimistic about the future. Adler, who has since remarried and has a family of his own, seems to have moved on from that chapter of his life.
