The Blues Music Awards, often hailed as the "Grammys of the Blues," recently celebrated its 46th edition in Memphis, Tennessee, honoring the best in blues music. The event, held on May 8th, recognized both established legends and rising stars, showcasing the genre's vibrant and enduring appeal. This year's ceremony saw multiple wins for artists like Ronnie Baker Brooks, Sue Foley, Ruthie Foster, and John Primer, solidifying their positions as titans of the blues.
Ronnie Baker Brooks emerged as a major winner, taking home three awards, including Song of the Year and Contemporary Blues Album for his acclaimed "Blues in My DNA." Sue Foley, the Canadian blues guitarist, also enjoyed a successful night, winning Best Acoustic Blues Album for "One Guitar Woman" and Traditional Blues Artist (Female). Foley's versatility and mastery of the guitar have made her a beloved figure in the blues community.
Ruthie Foster secured wins for Contemporary Blues Artist (Female) and Instrumentalist – Vocals, highlighting her powerful and soulful voice.
