Amerks Tie Series with Rocket in Thrilling Game 2 Victory: Kulich and Rosén Shine

The Rochester Americans (Amerks) are back in the game! After a Game 1 defeat against the Laval Rocket in the North Division Final, the Amerks bounced back with a decisive 5-3 victory on Friday, tying the best-of-five series 1-1. The pressure was on, and Rochester delivered, showcasing resilience and teamwork that promises an electrifying continuation of the series.

Game 2 saw a revitalized Amerks team, displaying a significant improvement from their rusty performance in Game 1. Goaltender Devon Levi was a key factor, allowing only 3 goals on 19 shots, bringing his playoff record to an impressive 4-1 with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage. His performance provided the backbone the team needed.

Head coach Mike Leone praised the team's effort, highlighting the selfless hockey that led to the win. "I'm really proud of the group. I thought from start to finish that we played an excellent hockey game," Leone stated. "I thought we played with pace, pressured the puck and we really leaned on them and credit the group, we bought in and it was an unbelievable effort from everyone on both sides of the puck."

Lukáš Rousek, despite playing with an injury, demonstrated incredible passion, scoring a goal and an assist. His exceptional pass to Jiří Kulich on the power play gave Rochester a crucial 4-3 lead. Isak Rosén also had a standout performance, contributing two goals and an assist, bringing his playoff total to four goals and five points in five games. Rosen's relentless effort in keeping the puck alive led to Rousek’s game-tying goal.

Kulich expressed satisfaction with the win but also emphasized the need for personal improvement. "That’s why I’m here to help the team win, but to be honest, I’m still not good enough, I have to step in more," Kulich remarked. His go-ahead goal in the third period highlighted his growing impact on the team. Kale Clague continued his impressive scoring streak, netting a goal in his fifth consecutive game, leading the AHL in playoff scoring with nine points.

Prior to the game, the Amerks hosted a pregame block party on Broad St., featuring live music and food, creating a festive atmosphere for fans. The event underscored the team's connection with the community and built excitement for the crucial Game 2.

With the series tied, the Amerks now head to Laval for the next three games. The series shifts to Laval for Game 3, with the Rocket looking to capitalize on home-ice advantage. The remaining schedule (if necessary) is:

  • Game 3: Wednesday at Laval
  • Game 4: Friday at Laval
  • Game 5: Sunday at Laval

The Amerks successfully bounced back from an opening game loss. Can they maintain this momentum and secure a series victory on the road? What adjustments do you think the Rocket will make to counter the Amerks' improved performance?
