Alice in Chains Cancels Tour After Drummer Sean Kinney’s Medical Emergency: Music World Sends Support

Breaking news for rock fans: Alice in Chains has announced the cancellation of their remaining tour dates due to a medical emergency suffered by their drummer, Sean Kinney. The announcement sent shockwaves through the music community, prompting an outpouring of support for the legendary drummer.

The band shared the news on their Instagram on Friday, stating, "After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and The Alice in Chains headline shows. While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean's health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time."

The medical emergency occurred after soundcheck at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, leading to the immediate cancellation of that night's show. The band assured fans that the issue was "non-life-threatening" but required immediate attention. Refunds are being offered for all headline shows.

The news has drawn reactions from all corners of the music industry. Sammy Hagar commented on the band's Instagram post, saying, "Oh my goodness, So sorry to hear this from my dear friends prayers and much love coming your way Sean." Brazilian drummer Aquiles Priester added, "Wishing this legendary drummer a speedy recovery."

Sean Kinney is a founding member of Alice in Chains, having formed the band in 1987. He and guitarist Jerry Cantrell are the only two original members still with the group. Alice in Chains rose to fame in the early 1990s with grunge hits like "Man in the Box," "Rooster," "Would?" and "Nutshell." Despite the tragic loss of original lead singer Layne Staley in 2002 and bassist Mike Starr in 2011, the band reunited and continued to release music to critical acclaim.

The band was tentatively scheduled to perform at Black Sabbath's final concert with Ozzy Osbourne in July. It remains to be seen if Kinney will recover in time for this performance. Fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on his condition.

As the music world rallies behind Sean Kinney and Alice in Chains, we at Flickermusic.com send our best wishes for a swift and full recovery.
