Abigail Williams Unveils Haunting New Single “Nonexistence” After Six-Year Hiatus
Abigail Williams, the American black metal powerhouse, has returned with a vengeance, unleashing their first new song in six years, "Nonexistence." This track heralds the arrival of their highly anticipated album, A Void Within Existence, set to drop on July 18th via Agonia Records. The single is already making waves, showcasing the band's evolved sound and intensely personal themes.
"Nonexistence" is more than just a black metal track; it's an exploration of atmosphere and emotion, even featuring a surprising David Gilmour-esque guitar solo that sets it apart. Frontman and mastermind Ken Sorceron describes the album as being born from a place of profound loneliness and introspection. "This record was born in the quiet hours, when everything felt hollow," Sorceron reflects. "A Void Within Existence isn't just a title – it's a feeling I couldn't shake while writing."

The new album promises to be a significant step forward for Abigail Williams. According to press releases, A Void Within Existence "expands upon the atmospheric darkness and melodic brutality" of its predecessor, 2019’s *Walk Beyond the Dark*, while pushing further into sonic and emotional extremes.
Sorceron, who also produced the album, collaborated with renowned engineer Dave Otero (Aborted, Akhlys) to achieve a raw and crushing sound. Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Malignancy) provides the blistering drum work, adding both precision and chaos to the mix. The album's cover art, created by Eliran Kantor (Testament, Bloodbath), visually embodies the music's desolation and epic scale.
Lyrically, the album delves into themes of loss, disintegration, and unreality. Tracks such as "Still Nights", "No Less Than Death", "Embrace the Chasm", and "Life, Disconnected" explore existential themes, presenting listeners with fragmented images, cosmic dread, and raw emotion.
The current Abigail Williams lineup features Sorceron on vocals and guitars, Vance Valenzuela (Vale Of Pnath) on guitars, John Porada (ex-Nachtmystium, ex-Wolvhammer) on bass, and Mike Heller on drums, solidifying their sound as a quartet.
With the release of "Nonexistence," Abigail Williams sets a dark and compelling tone for A Void Within Existence. Will this album cement their legacy as one of black metal's most innovative and emotionally resonant acts? Only time will tell, but early signs point to a powerful and unforgettable journey.
