President Muhammadu Buhari said that he had been an orphan since he was a little child and had never met his father.
The president said, in a speech delivered on Tuesday, January 10, at an APC campaign rally in Damaturu, Yobe State, that he did not know who his father was and that he had spent nine years at a boarding school getting the knowledge he needed to enroll in the Nigerian Army.
“Make sure you send your children to school and make them realize that anything you have in this world may be stolen from you except the information you have in your mind,” Buhari told the gathering while speaking Hausa.
“I was an orphan; I didn’t know my father,” he said. I attended a boarding school for nine years, and the Nigerian Army recruited me due to my schooling.
I want you to develop your faith and do your best to protect the family that God has given you, he concluded. Keep that trust intact.
