The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has finally spoken out on the actress Empress Njamah’s release of naked footage.
The group demanded the detention of Empress Njamah’s ex-fiance, who they said posted her naked footage online.
Emeka Rollas, the association’s national president, angrily criticized the distribution of the films, according to a statement released by Kate Henshaw, the association’s spokesman, on January 12th.
The statement says, in part:
“This individual who claimed to be her boyfriend committed a criminal act of extortion meant to tarnish her reputation and subject her to public mockery.
It is important to remember that publishing naked images and videos of someone that violates her right to privacy is a severe offense.
The group went on to say in their statement that they support Empress and would provide her all the counseling aid she needs to heal from her psychological and emotional suffering.
“We have been in the vanguard of the fight against violence against women, and we see this ‘bad lover’ man’s’ actions as an attempt to undermine her dignity and self-respect.
“We urge the law enforcement officials to find the offender and make sure he is held fully accountable for disrespecting Empress Njamah’s rights and dignity.
“We want her supporters to stand behind her fully at this time. She will emerge from this situation better and stronger.
