Snoop Dogg Asks “Iz It A Crime?” With Surprise Album & Film Release
Snoop Dogg is back with a bang, questioning his past and asserting his future in the music world! The West Coast legend has just dropped a surprise album, "Iz It A Crime?", alongside an accompanying film. This dual release marks a bold statement from the Doggfather, delving into his controversial decisions and celebrating his enduring legacy.
Just weeks after releasing a gospel album, "Altar Call," dedicated to his late mother, Beverly Tate, Snoop Dogg is showing no signs of slowing down. "The spirit of my mother will forever live within me," Snoop shared about the gospel album’s inspiration. "This album is a reflection of what she has taught me – to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world." Now, he's switching gears with a project that promises to be equally impactful, albeit in a different way.

In an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, Snoop revealed that the album's title, "Iz It A Crime?", stems from the scrutiny he's faced for some of his choices. "They keep asking me if it’s a crime to be myself, to stand for what I believe in," he explained, alluding to controversies like his appearance at a Trump-affiliated inauguration event.
This 21st studio album from the Long Beach native marks his first solo release since last year's collaborative project with Dr. Dre, "Missionary". Released under his own Death Row Records, the album boasts an impressive roster of collaborators, including Sexyy Redd, Wiz Khalifa, Battlecat, Rick Rock, and a highly anticipated reunion with Pharrell Williams.
Adding a cinematic dimension to the release, Snoop has created an accompanying film that expands on the album's themes through music and visuals. Details about the film are scarce, but Snoop has teased it as a "new chapter" in fusing storytelling and hip-hop, with the premiere on streaming platforms occurring at midnight. The album's cover features Snoop alongside his wife, Shante “Boss Lady” Broadus, showcasing the couple’s Long Beach pride.
While this release may ruffle some feathers, particularly with former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight, Snoop Dogg remains unbothered. "It’s showtime," he posted on social media, signaling his confidence and readiness to dominate the music scene once again. "Iz It A Crime?" is a testament to Snoop's enduring relevance and his commitment to doing things his way.
