Kanye West’s Former Church Property Under Arson Investigation Amid Tax Troubles

Kanye West, also known as Ye, is facing more than just controversy these days. Recent reports indicate that a property he owns, a former church intended for either his Donda Academy or a Yeezy headquarters, is now under investigation for alleged arson. This development adds another layer of complexity to West's already troubled financial and public image.

The property, located in Northridge, California, was purchased by West for $1.5 million in January 2023. However, instead of being developed, it was left unattended and fell into disrepair. Neighbors complained about the neglected state of the building, calling it an "eyesore" and expressing concerns about potential squatters. These apprehensions became reality when, in October 2024, the building burned down.

According to reports from The U.S. Sun and Baller Alert, the Northridge Fire Department is now investigating the fire as a potential case of arson. The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) has also inspected the property twice, in January and March, and placed two liens on the land due to unpaid inspection fees.

The U.S. Sun reports that the fire occurred on October 14th, 2024, shortly after 12:45 AM. While no one was injured, a nearby residence sustained minor damage. Adding insult to injury, West has yet to address the situation publicly.

Beyond the arson investigation, Kanye West is reportedly facing significant financial difficulties. He owes a substantial amount in unpaid property taxes, totaling $448,254 across five luxury properties. This figure includes the $1.5 million Northridge property. Failure to pay these taxes is resulting in monthly penalties, further exacerbating his financial woes. The largest debt is reportedly tied to his $6.7 million Yeezy Headquarters on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

West's current location is reportedly Spain, where he fled following backlash from controversial comments he made. His silence on the property fire and mounting financial issues has only fueled further speculation and criticism. The investigation into the fire's cause continues, and the future of the property remains uncertain.
