Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival Rocks Columbus: Metallica, Linkin Park, and Korn Headline

Get ready to headbang, Columbus! The Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival is in full swing at Historic Crew Stadium, promising a weekend of sonic bliss. With headliners like Metallica, Linkin Park, and Korn, the festival is drawing music lovers from across generations. But it's not just about the headliners; a diverse lineup and an expanded art program are making Sonic Temple a true cultural experience.

This year's Sonic Temple, running from May 8-11, boasts more than 100 music acts across multiple stages. Metallica is making their festival debut with a "No Repeat Weekend," meaning two unique sets for fans. The festival also features after-parties at local clubs and an official mobile app to help navigate the frenzy.

Mike Inez of Alice in Chains commented on the broad appeal of the festival: "It's absolutely multigenerational. Nothing warms my heart more than going out to play and looking out in the audience. I've even seen three generations at a show." He added, "Even the younger fans, they know all the songs. It's not lost on us how heavy that is."

But it hasn't been all smooth sailing. Day one saw significant traffic congestion on Interstate 71. Organizers responded quickly, opening parking early on May 9 and adding more facilities. They also advised attendees to arrive early to avoid further delays.

Adding to the excitement, Metallica recently caused a minor earthquake during a concert in Virginia. The band's performance of "Enter Sandman" at Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium generated ground tremors that were detected by a nearby seismograph.

Beyond the music, Sonic Temple's art program features various installations and exhibitors, including local Columbus artists like Paul Giovis and Mandi Caskey. From live painting to unique art pieces, the festival offers a visual feast alongside the auditory experience.

Sonic Temple is more than just a music festival; it's a vibrant celebration of art, community, and the unifying power of music. What are your favorite moments from Sonic Temple so far? Share your experiences and opinions in the comments below!
