The Who Announce ‘The Song Is Over’ North American Farewell Tour: A Grand Finale for Rock Legends

The Who, the legendary British rock band, has announced their final tour of North America, titled 'The Song Is Over North American Farewell Tour'. This marks the end of a remarkable six-decade career filled with iconic live performances and unforgettable music. After numerous hints and years of relentless touring, the group has officially set dates to bring their epic journey to a close.

Announced at a press conference in London, Roger Daltrey, 81, and Pete Townshend, who will turn 80 this month, shared their sentiments about this significant milestone. Townshend noted, "Well, all good things must come to an end. It is a poignant time." The tour's name, inspired by their 1971 classic, symbolizes the end of an era, but also a celebration of their enduring legacy. In a statement, The Who called it a “bittersweet final tour of the US and Canada as a truly grand finale of their illustrious six-decade career”.

The 'Song Is Over' tour promises to be a memorable experience for fans, featuring hit songs from their extensive catalog. Beginning August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, the tour will visit major cities across the US and Canada, including New York, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Las Vegas. A stop at Fenway Park in Boston promises to be a highlight, uniting the city with the anthemic sounds that the band created.

"For America to take us into its hearts meant so much," said Daltrey, reflecting on the band's deep connection with American audiences. Townshend reminisced about the early days, recalling how American fans "really, really, really listened," shaping their understanding of how music could connect with people on a profound level. He added that despite the road not always being enjoyable for him, it is usually easy: the best job I could ever have had.

Tickets for the farewell tour will be available through a Citi presale and The Who Fan Club starting May 13. The general public on-sale begins on May 16. Fans can join the Whooligan Fan Club to receive exclusive merchandise and early access to tickets.
